Recycling centres

The projects of separate collection of recyclable waste and separation of toxic and hazardous waste are a part of the Comprehensive Waste Management System in the City of Zagreb. Separate collection was introduced as early as in 1988 for some types of waste. Nowadays this and many similar projects are a regular and very well accepted utility service standard in Zagreb. Zagreb City Holding Ltd, Subsidiary Čistoća has a total of about 6,500 recycling bins set up in public areas for separate collection of paper, glass, plastic and metal packaging, textile, and biowaste, plus ten recycling centres and five mobile recycling centres that collect thirty different types of waste from households.
